Welcome to Alpine Endurance. Neil here, I’m a 45 year young father of 2 kids. Since a young age I’ve had an insatiable passion for moving my body. I remember making my mom drive me the 6km from our acreage to the town pool at 6:30am before grade school to swim laps… no swim team, just solo laps.
As an ACMG Ski Guide I view myself as a professional athlete and treat my body and training accordingly. I graduated University of Calgary in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.
I’m highly motivated to enjoy skiing, mountain biking & moving my body for as long as possible. Bio:
Professional Guide for over 30 years. ACMG hiking Guide since 2004 and Ski Guide since 2010
Average 500-700 hours of recorded activity per year.
Test subject in cycling and swimming exercise physiology studies at the UofC’s Human Performance lab over a 25 year span totaling 30+ sessions.
Raced XC mountain bikes 1993 to 1999 (age 13-19)
Raced triathlon on U of C team from 1999-2003
Enduro Mountain bike racing 2013-ongoing. A few podiums here and there and 2nd place overall in the 2016 BC enduro series (age group)
Dabbled in a few Nordic and SkiMo races over the years.
Passionate surfer since 1999
Keen Motocross (trail/enduro) rider and gravel cyclist.
Strength training since 1995
My biggest strength is body awareness. Tomorrow I could jump on my mountain/gravel/dirtjump/E-bike, xc-skis, alpine skis, snowboard, touring skis, surf board, swim in the pool, roller skis, KTM250 dirtbike, canoe/kayak/SUP and hold my own at a respectable level. I want nothing more than to keep enjoying mountain sport for as long as possible. It’s my goal to help others realize the immense pleasure that comes from moving your body while being fit & strong.
